Rural property caretaker couple – Byron Hinterland, NSW – Paid position
A reliable, practical and trustworthy couple is wanted to help manage and maintain a large private rural property in the Byron Hinterland, approximately 30 minutes from Byron Bay.
The position is expected to commence in late December 2026 or early January 2027.
The owners will be interstate for around 12 months, so they are looking for experienced people who can act as their local eyes and ears while keeping the property secure, maintained and well presented.
Duties may include:
✅ Maintaining lawns, gardens and presentation around the residence
✅ Slashing, fencing and tractor work where suitably experienced
✅ Monitoring the house, pool, sheds, paddocks, gates and water systems
✅ Keeping an eye on drainage and access roads
✅ Checking for storm damage, fallen trees, leaks and maintenance issues
✅ Coordinating contractors when required
✅ Completing minor practical repairs
✅ Cleaning and preparing the residence when needed
✅ Potentially monitoring cattle
✅ Providing regular photo and video updates to the ownersThe position would suit a couple with experience in areas such as:
• Rural property management
• Farming or livestock
• Trades and practical maintenance
• Machinery and tractor operation
• Gardening and grounds maintenance
• Cleaning and property presentationExperience with cattle, horses, tractors, pools or larger acreage properties would be highly regarded.
